Tips for NRIs visiting India
Carry some cash — smaller shops, auto-rickshaws, and local markets often don't accept cards or UPI (which requires an Indian number). ATMs in major airports and cities are reliable. Inform your bank before travelling to avoid card blocks.
Buy an Indian SIM (Jio or Airtel) at the airport — data is extremely cheap (₹200–300 for 28 days unlimited). You'll need your passport and a local address for KYC. This unlocks UPI payments via PhonePe or GPay, making daily transactions frictionless.
